Terms of Service

By installing, accessing, or using Translate Select, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our service.

These terms apply to all users, whether on the Free Plan or Pro Plan.

Translate Select is a Chrome browser extension that provides:

• Text Translation: Translate selected text on websites (up to 400 characters per translation)
• Vocabulary Notebook: Save and manage your translated words and phrases
• Language Learning Tools: Features to help you learn languages while browsing

We offer both Free and Pro subscription tiers with different usage limits.

Account Creation: You must authenticate with a valid Google account to use Translate Select. By signing in, you agree to provide accurate information and maintain the security of your account.

Account Security: You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your Google account credentials
• All activities that occur under your account
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access

Age Requirement: You must be at least 13 years old to use Translate Select. Users under 18 must have parental consent.

Free Plan:

• 100 translations per month
• 5 saved words in your notebook
• Basic features

Pro Plan:

• Unlimited translations
• Unlimited saved words
• Monthly subscription (recurring billing)

Payment Terms:

• Payments are processed securely through Stripe
• Pro subscriptions auto-renew monthly until cancelled
• Prices are subject to change with 30 days notice
• All fees are non-refundable except as required by law
• You can cancel anytime through the Stripe Customer Portal

30-Day Money-Back Guarantee: If you're not satisfied with the Pro Plan, you may request a full refund within 30 days of your initial purchase.

After 30 Days: Refunds are generally not provided, but we may consider exceptions on a case-by-case basis for:

• Technical issues preventing use of the service
• Duplicate charges or billing errors

To Request a Refund: Email support@translateselect.app with your subscription details.

You agree NOT to:

• Abuse the Service: Attempt to exceed rate limits, create multiple accounts, or exploit the system
• Reverse Engineer: Decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer the extension
• Violate Laws: Use the service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Harm Others: Harass, abuse, or harm other users
• Resell: Resell or redistribute the service without permission
• Automated Use: Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to access the service
• Translate Illegal Content: Use the service to translate illegal, harmful, or offensive content

Violations may result in immediate account suspension or termination without refund.

Translation Limits:

• Maximum 400 characters per translation (for words and sentences, not paragraphs)
• Free Plan: 100 translations per month
• Pro Plan: Unlimited, subject to fair use

Fair Use Policy: "Unlimited" means reasonable personal use. We reserve the right to limit or suspend accounts that:

• Use excessive server resources
• Attempt to use the service commercially without authorization
• Show patterns of abuse or automated usage

Our Content: Translate Select, including the extension code, design, logos, and branding, is owned by us and protected by copyright and intellectual property laws.

Your Content: You retain ownership of your saved translations and vocabulary. By using our service, you grant us a license to store and process this data to provide our services.

Trademarks: "Translate Select" and the asterisk logo are our trademarks. You may not use them without permission.

Translate Select integrates with third-party services:

• Google Translate API: Powers our translations (subject to Google's Terms)
• Firebase/Google Cloud: Hosts our database and authentication
• Stripe: Processes payments (subject to Stripe's Terms)

We are not responsible for third-party services or their terms.

SERVICE PROVIDED "AS IS": Translate Select is provided without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

• Accuracy or quality of translations
• Uninterrupted or error-free service
• Fitness for a particular purpose
• Compatibility with all websites or browsers

Translation Accuracy: We use Google Translate API, which is generally accurate but not perfect. Do not rely on translations for critical, legal, medical, or safety-related content.

Service Availability: We strive for 99.9% uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend the service for maintenance.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Translate Select and its operators shall not be liable for:

• Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• Lost profits, data, or business opportunities
• Damages resulting from incorrect translations
• Service interruptions or data loss

Maximum Liability: Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (or $50 for free users).

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Translate Select from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

• Your use or misuse of the service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights
• Any content you translate or save

We May:

• Modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time with notice
• Change features, pricing, or usage limits with 30 days notice
• Terminate or suspend your account for Terms violations

You May:

• Cancel your subscription anytime (no refunds for partial months)
• Delete your account and all data at any time
• Stop using the service if you disagree with changes

Upon Termination: Your access will end, and your data may be deleted after 30 days.

Your use of Translate Select is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains:

• What data we collect
• How we use and protect your data
• Your rights and choices

By using our service, you consent to our data practices as described in the Privacy Policy.

If you believe content in Translate Select infringes your copyright, contact us at legal@translateselect.app with:

• Description of the copyrighted work
• Location of the infringing content
• Your contact information
• A statement of good faith belief
• Your electronic or physical signature

Informal Resolution: Before filing a claim, contact us at support@translateselect.app to resolve the issue informally.

Binding Arbitration: If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, it will be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court, except:

• Small claims court disputes (under $10,000)
• Intellectual property disputes

Class Action Waiver: You agree to resolve disputes individually, not as part of a class action.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where our business is registered, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes not subject to arbitration shall be resolved in courts located in [Your State/Country].

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes:

• We'll update the "Last Updated" date
• We'll notify you via email or in-app notification
• Your continued use constitutes acceptance

If you disagree with changes, you may cancel your subscription and stop using the service.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Translate Select regarding the service.
